In a refreshing twist on the demonic horror archetype, director Jordan Galland begins his indie flick Ava's Possessions where most films of this genre end: at the culmination of an exorcism. After protagonist Ava (played by Louisa Krause) becomes demon-free, she joins a support group for the previously possessed and begins to unearth a tangled web of dark and shocking secrets. The film features Jemima Kirke (Girls), Carol Kane (When a Stranger Calls), Alysia Reiner and Deborah Rush (Orange is the New Black).
The comedy/horror brand is not easy to get right (take, for instance, most of the Scary Movie sequels.) But this one looks promising. See the trailer below:
Just going off of the trailer, this film looks hilarious- full of sarcasm and pragmatic wit. We can't wait to see it in select theaters starting March 4th!
