With the exception of a few standout gems like World War Z, Zombieland, and 28 Days Later, the zombie genre has seen a lot of overplayed plot points and tired character archetypes. Then comes the upcoming, "breath-of-fresh-zombie-air" feature The Girl With All the Gifts.
Based on M.R. Carey's 2014 sci-fi horror novel by the same name, the film tells the story of a young girl named Melanie and her special role in the fate of a zombie-infested society. Melanie (Sennia Nanua) is a standout student and one of very few children who show partial immunity to the culprit virus. She, along with a scientist (Glenn Close) and her favorite teacher (Gemma Arterton), fight to survive the perils of this dystopian world.
