The Conjuring director James Wan has become a powerhouse in horror cinema and the new film he’s producing, The Curse of La Llorona, looks to be a scary take on one of Mexico’s most famous spirits.
There are many variations of the legend, but the gist is that she is a woman in a white dress with long, flowing black hair who is eternally searching for her drowned children. She takes possession of any young children she finds and they are eventually found drowned somewhere, the weeping woman off to look for her children anew.
The film stars Linda Cardinelli and Patricia Velásquez. It will be out April 19th. Keep your kids close until then.
