One doesn't typically associate Easter with horror. For the religious, it's a celebration of Christ's ascendence to Heaven and for the secular it's all about chocolate and pastels and Easter egg hunts.
And really, who can be scared of the Easter bunny? They are cute fuzzy creatures who visit your gardens and leave eggs! How gentle and pure! What's there to be scared about?
Fortunately the human mind has an amazing gift at making anything creepy and nothing is more creepy and cringe-inducing than vintage childhood photos of costumes that could probably have used a bit more work.
I shall share ten of my favorites, followed by some creepy horror vignettes I'll make up for each.
As he grew bigger, Bunnicula realized that carrot juice would no longer be enough.
So he found bigger carrots, with a much richer juice, and he tried to ignore the screaming.
Brown Bunny, Brown Bunny, why are you alone?
Brown Bunny, Brown Bunny, those children aren't your own.
He tried to be good, but life outside prison was too hard. There was no structure, no clear understanding of what was expected of him.
It was only a matter of time before bad habits caught up with him.
Buster Bunny always liked the smallest children. They were very trusting, and they couldn't run very fast.
"His face kept melting. Do you hear me?!?! His face wouldn't stay on!!?
"The blackest eyes. The devil's eyes."
Joey was really happy to meet his friend the Easter Bunny! They played games and looked for Easter eggs and the bunny gave him the biggest, tightest hug ever!
But the hug kept getting tighter...
Little Baby Shamus somehow doubted that this particular Easter Bunny was authentic when he found himself tied to the railroad tracks an hour later.
Taken seconds before the bunny ate the child and became very, very gassy.
I don't really have a scary story to go with this one, but it looks like the poster for a darkly whimsical indie film.
